637 Workers' Compensation and the Safety Professional: Concepts and Practices


Summary: The authors of this paper are safety professionals who have worked in the insurance and risk management profession for many years. Their experience in workers’ compensation insurance, loss control, claims, and risk management has been extensive. During their time in the profession they have had the opportunity to work with organizations in all types of business sectors. They have had first-hand experiences with the integration of occupational safety and health and workers’ compensation programs to generate positive safety and business results. Based on these experiences, they have developed this paper to provide a historical view on workers' compensation and ways to integrate these two integral business processes together.
