"Appreciate the Danger" of Eye Injuries - Encouraging Worker PPE Compliance
Summary: Providing workers with appropriate eye protection is critical to injury prevention. However, this does not necessarily mean workers will use the provided protection. • Workers may choose to not use eye protection because they do not believe eye injuries are serious, they find eye protection
uncomfortable to wear or they believe wearing it interferes with
their ability to work safely.
• Employers should provide a variety of comfortable eyewear choices and solicit worker input to encourage use.
• Safety professionals in industries that require eye protection should strive to create a culture in which wearing eye protection is the norm.
