Creating an Inclusive Workplace - Integrating Employees With Disabilities Into a Distribution Center Environment
Many companies would like to employ people with disabilities but are concerned that this population is more expensive to employ and less safe than the general workforce. The Supply Chain and Logistics Division at Walgreens Co., a 10,000-employee unit of a national retail pharmacy chain, debunks this myth by successfully employing hundreds of people with disabilities throughout its 21 U.S. distribution centers. This article shares specific performance statistics, as well as management policies, techniques and strategies that other companies can apply to their own workforces.
