Fall Protection Systems: Employees Are Using the Gear, But Are They Really Safe?
Summary: Fall protection equipment and components are becoming more commonplace throughout industry. As a result, fatalities due to falls from height have been reduced over the past few decades. This article reviews how to best identify hazards, select components and eliminate commonly overlooked, but serious and potentially fatal, misapplications of equipment. This article also reviews some innovations that can not only prevent serious injuries and fatalities, but also can minimize many types of hazards so workers may immediately return to work injury-free.
