Summary: Advancements in pharmaceutical and biological technology have resulted in the introduction of more and more hazardous drugs each year. The rise in drug volume has also increased the potential for occupational exposure, which has triggered many healthcare organizations to re-evaluate current exposure control methods.
This article describes and discusses the healthcare organization’s internal risk assessment process as it relates to hazardous drug safety and systematically compares our identified best practices with those published in the guidelines.
