Summary: This document provides guidelines to help you understand the elements of a safety and health management system (SHMS). Then you can begin to evaluate where you are and what you need to do to build or strengthen your current system. Also included is a SHMS fill-in-the-blank written sample. The written sample is a too to help you begin the process of writing and documenting your SHMS. It is important to customize your written system to fit your specific needs, types of hazards, and size and complexity of your business.
